FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Soreze Gel - Prevents Bed Sore

What does Soreze contain?

Soreze is a skin-protectant, soothing silicone gel made of silicone elastomers, polysiloxanes, starch, and silicates made using patented

‘EPB (Elastomer Potentiated Barrier)’

technology.

How does Soreze help in prevention of Bed Sores?

Soreze

forms a protective thin film of silicone within 30 seconds of its application on pressure-prone areas. This film reduces friction on the skin and acts as a barrier between skin folds or between skin and clothing or bedding thus preventing bedsores. The friction-reducing property of

Soreze

helps protects the skin while repositioning the patient which is an important aspect of bedsore prevention. Further, the thin film formed by

Soreze

is long-lasting, non-allergenic, water-repellent, and breathable.

Soreze

not only makes skin smooth but also works well in the presence of water, sweat, or moisture.

Who should use Soreze Gel?

Anyone who spends long hours on bed or wheelchair or have mobility issues or any of the below mentioned conditions are most likely to develop bedsores.

Stroke/ Paralysis

Patients on oxygen/ BiPap/ ventilator

Post-surgical case with limited mobility

Neuro surgery

Orthopedic patients on complete bed rest and/or with reduced mobility

Terminally ill patients e.g. coma, patients on life support systems, etc.

When should one start using Soreze?

Soreze

should be used in any person who is at risk of developing bed sores or has seen redness/ discoloration of the skin or any other early symptoms of bed sores in patients. The following category of people are at risk of developing bed sores hence

Soreze

should be started as a preventive measure in these cases:

Completely bedridden

Any person unable to move

Anyone using a wheelchair for a long duration

Any conditions that warrant staying in the same position for a long time

Paralysis

Neuro or hip & spine surgery cases where patients are advised long-term bed rest

Patients on life support systems such as ventilators or any other device that restricts patient’s mobility

Elderly people with diabetes who are prone to skin infections

Is Soreze safe for daily use?

Soreze is dermatologically tested and is safe for daily use. We have tested it for biocompatibility as per US FDA guidelines and it is proven to be non-irritating and non-sensitizing. It does not contain any allergens or harmful chemicals or animal-origin ingredients.

What are bed sores and its consequence?

Bedsores or pressure sores are ulcers that happen on areas of skin that are under pressure for a long time. Commonly found in people who are bedridden, immobile for long, unconscious, or unable to sense pain. Constant pressure on a particular part of the skin like the buttocks, back, the heel of the feet, shoulder blades, back of the head, sides of the knees, and others, leads to pressure injuries also called decubitus ulcers. Reduction in blood supply for hours together in the skin and underlying tissues will result in the death of the skin, followed by painful red spots that eventually turn purple. Such soreness of skin when left untreated will result in infections and can take months or years to heal.

What are early signs of bed sores?

Early signs of bedsores include:

Part of the skin becomes discolored – people with pale skin tend to get red patches, while people with dark skin tend to get purple or blue patches

An area of skin that feels cooler or warmer to the touch than other areas

Swelling

A patch of skin that feels warm, spongy, or hard

Pus-like draining

Who is at risk of developing bed sores?

People at risk of developing bed sores are -

elderly, bedridden people, or patients with mobility issues Typically following patients are at risk:

Stroke/Paralysis

Patients on oxygen/BiPap/ ventilator

Post-surgical cases with limited mobility or on complete bed rest

Neurosurgery

Orthopedic patients (hip and spine surgery) on complete bed rest and/or with reduced mobility

Terminally ill patients e.g. coma, patients on life support systems including ventilators, etc.

Bedridden patients or patients in wheelchairs

Patients with long hospitalization

Can Soreze be used in children?

Yes, Soreze is safe to use in Children.

Is doctor’s prescription required to buy or use Soreze?

No,

Soreze

do not contain any drug so the prescription is not required.

Can I use it in intimate areas?

Yes, the ingredients are safe for use on all types of skin and on intimate areas. In fact, Soreze can be used for the prevention of Incontinence associated dermatitis caused due to frequent use of adult diapers.

Will Soreze help treatment of bedsores?

No, Soreze is preventative and not a treatment of bed sore, do not apply on open skin or open wounds. However,

Soreze

can be used in the case of grade 1 bedsores where the skin has started discoloring or there is redness, pain, and discomfort in pressure-prone areas.

Can Soreze be used in case of redness, discoloration, pain or rashes on pressure prone areas?

Yes,

Soreze

will create a barrier film on skin areas affected due to redness or rashes or skin irritation and prevent it from developing into bedsore at the same time allowing the skin to rejuvenate.

Can Soreze be used in case already formed Bed Sores?

No,

Soreze

is not a treatment for Bed Sores it helps in prevention. However,

Soreze

can be used in case of redness, irritation, pain, discomfort, or itch skin as long as the skin is intact. It creates a barrier film on skin areas affected due to redness or rashes or skin irritation and prevents it from developing into bedsore at the same time allowing the skin to rejuvenate. Do not apply on open skin or open or oozing wounds. Please consult your doctor if redness or rashes persist for more than 7 days or if wounds have formed.

How is Soreze different from air mattress or water beds?

Bed sores are caused by a combination of pressure, friction, and shear. Water mattresses or air beds work on pressure redistribution or pressure reduction while Soreze works by reducing friction. Both complement each other’s actions. Soreze protects skin from friction and shear while repositioning which is an important aspect of bedsore prevention or bed sore treatment.

Will Soreze replace the need for air mattress or water beds?

No, the patient will still need an air mattress or water bed, or any other pressure-releasing device because Soreze works on reducing friction and not on pressure redistribution or reduction. Soreze complements the action of any pressure-releasing device and has to be used along with such devices.

How frequently should Soreze be applied?

We suggest 2-3 times daily. Clean and dry the pressure-prone area before applying Soreze. After application of Soreze, the thin film is not seen however it gives a smooth feel on the skin.

Can Soreze be applied on all parts of body?

Yes, It’s extremely safe. We recommend applying on intact skin and on pressure-prone areas such as tail bone, heels, under the knee, shoulder, back of the head, buttocks, groin, and peri-anal, area etc.

How should Soreze be removed?

Film formed by Soreze need not be removed, it automatically wears off. However, in case it has to be removed, it can be washed off with soap water, or any other mild cleansers. Do not rub vigorously on pressure-prone areas while washing or cleaning.

What precautions should be taken while using Soreze?

Soreze is non sterile gel. Do not use it on open wounds or on oozing and crusting skin surfaces. Avoid direct contact with eyes or mucous membranes. If irritation occurs discontinue use and consult your doctor. Keep out of reach of children. Soreze is for external use only.
